Killer’s Game Movie Review

If you’re looking for a non-thinking, fun, action flick then you can’t go wrong with Killer’s Game. I mean, if you want to see Drax and Mantis reunite then this is the movie for you!

Plot

A medical misdiagnosis leads to a hilarious turn of events. After my stint in medical research, I’m actually impressed at how accurate real life is. But when there is stuff ups like in this case, they can have long lasting consequences. Dave Bautista plays to his strengths, being the strong man with quips. For some reason, I’ve not been sold on Sofia Boutella – maybe it’s her being cast in some terrible Netflix movies cough cough that just doesn’t lend to me taking her seriously as an actress. And to be fair, I know Pom Klementieff is trying to shrug off her role as Mantis in the Marvel Universe, but it’s not going to be easy for something that iconic. However I do applaud her trying to break out of that stereotype and slowly (but surely) showing her acting chops in different roles. Though I’m not sure, going from an introverted and slowly assured alien to bad ass is a leap most people can take. I was excited to hear but ultimately disappointed to see Ben Kingsley (Gandhi/The Mandarin), Alex Kingston (River Song – Doctor Who) and Dylan Moran (Black Books) not being utilised to the maximum of their star power!

Verdict

If you’re looking to kill 90ish minutes, then you can spend your time watching this. Nothing to write home about, but nice action sequences.

2 out of 5 popcorn kernels!
