What’s better than having the first bite of salmon and eggs? Nothing. Here’s how the Pillar Of Salt is doing it right.
Located in Richmond on the busy Church street, the Pillar Of Salt is a great venue that mixes the hum drum of a busy cafe in the front with a quiet space for eating out the back. The mixture of fitness focused people up the front looking for a caffeine hit mixed with business deals being made at the back just added to the charm.
The service was definitely on point and I thoroughly enjoyed the banter with our host.
I chose the amazing Nordic Breakfast – Vodka & Juniper Berry Ocean Trout Gravlax, Scrambled Eggs, Rye Toast, Dill Aioli, Mustard Sauce, Emmental Cheese and House Pickles. Now I must admit, I was a little hesitant to enjoy salmon and eggs for breakfast. A salmon roll, maybe. But this feast?

First of all, those eggs were cooked in a way, I’ve never even considered cooking. It was sliced, yet, cooked just the way I love my eggs (fried) in this tangy sauce that melded with the ocean trout gravlax.
And the dips were all kinds of heaven. My gosh, those dips. They were right on so many levels.
Finalise that with thick rye bread with butter….and I was weak at the knees. How. How could they top this?
Coffee. Their coffee was aromatic with a hint of sweet caramel and honey.
I then tried it with almond milk. Sorry MB, but it just didn’t work for me.

Go for the meal and the coffee, you will be glad. And the people watching doesn’t hurt either.
