One Man’s Journey Into Journeyman

When Lou mentions a restaurant, you go. Just that plain and simple. And you know what? He was right! Gawd the food was delicious and here’s the meal that you should break your fast with!

Consumed: Chilli Scrambled Eggs with smoked tomato, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil and baguette.
Drank: Coffee

Location

Located on the iconic Chapel Street, this is one of those places that predominantly the locals would know about. It is a pretty quaint cafe and I really liked the setup.

Food
journeyman-coffee-1The coffee had a bit of a bite to it, but something I definitely enjoyed. The subtle aftertones lingering on your tongue, I couldn’t quite place the flavour, and can only say that it was delicious.

The food on the other hand? journeyman-chilli-basil-eggs-overheadWell… shiver me timber… it was freaking fabulous! journeyman-chilli-basil-eggs-1I cannot speak highly enough of this meal! The eggs were so nice and fluffy and it was infused with the buffalo mozzarella perfectly.

And the chilli. Oh Lawd, the chilli, it was melded well into the eggs and cheese and to top it off, an even better hit when you got to eat the strips directly.

Cost
Given that this is chapel street, I came in expecting a higher, city styled pricing. My expectations were confirmed. There are some places where for $20, you could get a good hearty big breakfast, but this was artisan. And the price matched the food.

Ambiance
journeyman-entranceI seriously liked the vibe! To me, this is how a cafe should feel. Whilst it wouldn’t suit a young family with a pram/stroller, you could have young kids in here. Though, some of the other patron might not appreciate it all that much.journeyman-interior

Service
They were extremely attentive here. I enjoyed that they kept our bottle of water filled and checked in on us to see if we enjoyed our coffee and later on the meals. Plus, their knowledge of the menu and what to choose based on our palette was top notch!
