2020 was the year of the lockdowns and a chance for you to grow your resilience. And on the cusp of 2021, Netflix made the bold claim to release a movie every week. I was clearly impressed. Spoilt with choice, I thought it was time to kick off some reviews. With Avengers finishing off in 2019, I knew I wanted to do a “watch-all-the-movies-of-the-main-actors”. So I started off with Iron Man – or rather Robert Downey Jr. The one movie that kept being recommended to me? The Judge. Here’s why it’s great!

It’s been a while, that a movie has made me genuinely stop and pay attention. Like a good book, where you just can’t put it down, this movie had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Besides, some of the main stars were impeccable. Seeing a 2014 movie in 2021, you can see all these other stars that have grown in their own right! I mean heck, Star Wars AND Netflix’s Daredevil in the same movie? HELL YES!!

There is something for everyone in this movie – bar the kids. (Get it, “bar” the kids – Dad jokes galore). I think this will also work especially well, if you are a little older and perhaps have older parents too.

If anything, we always look up to our parents being infallible – regardless of their age.

When time catches up to them, us all eventually, we, as kids, still try hold on to hope and the notions of the past – where our parents can do everything and have answers for anything. Perhaps, you will see yourself in the mirror that RDJ holds up for you, where you know a better solution to the problem at hand, but for some reason, your parents are stuck in their old ways and unwilling to budge.

In the end, the real story is about love. And about redemption.

Besides, this was the first movie, that I had watched in a long time, where I was left genuinely satisfied. You get some closure and in other ways you don’t. Just like life. The beauty and freedom, is being able to…

Just let go

This is a phenomenal movie and easily worth the 2 hour run time. Also great as a couple movie.
