Travelling has a lot of positives. And vagabonding seems to be more and more enticing. But here are a few things I’ve learned on my latest trip
Australia
The Digital Show 2013
Dubious about such showcases, I tentatively entered the Melbourne Exhibition Building. And boy was I happily surprised! Continue reading
Port Douglas: The Great Barrier Reef
The best holidays happen when you book something, to go somewhere, by yourself. Especially for the first time. Continue reading
Docklands
Docklands: The way forward or a planning misstep?
Located to the east of the city is Melbourne’s newest feature: Docklands. It hosts many attractions some of which I have written about previously like Ovo and the Fireworks in July. Continue reading
Bits and bobs: Now introducing maps!
Seeing as I’m new to this entire thing, I’m slowly working my way through all the nicer points of a blog. Like understanding what is aesthetically pleasing (I can’t believe I said that) versus factual information. There seems to be a fine balance that I just haven’t obtained yet. ALTHOUGH! Having said that, I found out how to add maps to a blog.
You know, those things that are needed when you’re going somewhere… I know, I had a facepalm moment when I realised it myself. But that’s ok, my blog and I are still growing.
To show off my nifty new skills, I’ll be visiting the Shrine of Remembrance to commemorate ANZAC day 2013. If you get the chance, come on down. Having watched the service on TV, and experienced other live versions of things, I know that nothing will compare to being part of the march. Hope to see you there.
Lest We Forget.
Markets – Burnley
Local markets in any city show the true underside of any city. It cuts through the fluff of what the city is made of, showing it’s true heart and the best and sometimes worst of what a city has to offer. Continue reading
Australia Day 2012
Australia Day 2012
Australia Day falls on the 26th of January. Around the same time the famous Australian Open occurs! This year I took the chance to brave the sun and headed into the city for a great day out.
Given my love of Jazz, I was excited to catch James Morrisson’s show, one of Australia’s best living Jazz export performing a symphony of his hits.
After that show, the crowd was treated to a great variety of shows and included the Roulettes.
Moving through the crowd, hunger got the better of me and I stopped over for some nachos! It was fortunate that I managed to score the last nachos 🙂
I finally ended up at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl to hear the songs & dance of the Scottish & Irish! It was a great treat to see Melbourne’s own Damian Leith come out to perform.
The Metrics:
Transport: $11 for the day (this was back at the start of the year. Now it would have been $3.30)
Food: $7.50
Entry: Free
========
Total – $18.50

Well within our spending limit! My only regret is that I couldn’t get there sooner!
