A public holiday, the amazing Salamanca markets, getting burgers seemed like the different thing to do. Continue reading

Mum’s cooking Burgers and the kitchen’s smelling awesome. Why you need to rush on down to mum’s Burger Kitchen (Boronia)
What I’m starting to love about this great country and appreciating being alive right now is that if you have a dream and have the grit to ride through the inevitable challenges, you can do whatever you want. And that’s how we get more artisan shops opening up further away from the city. Mum’s Burger Kitchen is a welcomed example into the neighbourhood. Continue reading
Not all those who Wander are lost. A trip down South (Hobart)
For no apparent reason, other than the ability to get away, I decided to fly to Tasmania. Why? Well, why not?!

Turn over a new Ginger Leaf (Docklands)
On the busy Bourke Street, and the proximity to the other Thai restaurants, you are in for a treat as the battle for Asian culinary supremacy is on! Continue reading

Holy Hell Hoops Spicy Chicken Wing Challenge
I know that I can handle my spicy food. But this… this was some next level extreme. Get ice cream. And no, it’s not for your mouth. Continue reading
Things to Try This Week (W17 2016)
Well the weeks are flying past and with the weather turning, it will be time to look at more homely activities. Having said that, winter might be coming, but we don’t stop. Feel free to cringe away. Continue reading
Is Don Don Is Good Good
This place is one of those gems that you only hear if you are smart with your money, know what cash looks like, and are ok to not be seen in a fancy place whilst in the city.
Things to try this week (W16 2016)
This weekend is another long weekend for us here in Melbourne and there are a few fun things you can get up to.
1. Anzac Day memorial
Many celebrate this day as just another holiday. I would like to remind you that it isn’t. The day is to commemorate the sacrifice of the brave men and women of the Australian and New Zealand Corps that gave their lives in Gallipoli in World War 1. Lest we forget.
2. Random wandering:
There are so many places that I haven’t visited locally that I am keen to get out there with my camera and go for a wander. Right now, I’m not sure where I’m going to go but there are a few art projects I want to do and this long weekend is the perfect time to execute on them.
3. However if the weather is bad:
There are a ton of things to do when the weather isn’t the best. I’m going to challenge myself to a weekend of learning and outline something I’ve learned. Think it just might be time to pick up my camera, learn a new dish, clean up a space or…who knows. The opportunities are endless. Most of all, I am going to try and find ways to keep myself entertained without needing the internet or electricity… the next post will be interesting!
Things to try this week (W15 2016)
There are quite a few things on in this amazing city and here are my top 3:
1. Como Gardens
This is a local fundraiser for the State Emergency Services and St. Johns Ambulance. There are rides and food and all sorts of goodies on show. The train ride is a definite must. If you’re a fan of old racing cars then you HAVE to go!
Full disclosure: I volunteer at the SES unit that this is being held for. That said, it’s a great weekend out and one I always recommend.
2. Rhoddendam Gardens
Yeah it could be a little wet but this beauty is one to behold. Soon I will be compiling a photo-tour of this place during the weather changes.
Please note that there is a bicycle event taking place on 17/4 around the area where these 2 attractions are being held. I would highly recommend having enough leeway to ensure you are not impacted by the event.
3. Brooklyn’s Finest – For you I do – launch shows
One of my fave local bands is launching their next album across the Eastside of Australia. You can get access to their events here.
Full disclosure: I went to high school with the guitarist and whilst I genuinely like the music, I want you to know that I know these people.
